Gujarati Kitchen Tuver Dhokli Recipe

– 1 tsp red chili powder
– 1 tsp coriander-cumin powder
– 1/2 tsp asafoetida
– 1 tsp mustard seeds
– 1 tsp cumin seeds
– 2-3 cloves
– 2-3 cinnamon sticks
– 2-3 tbsp oil
– Salt to taste
– Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Recipe:
1. In a bowl, mix wheat flour, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp coriander-cumin powder, a pinch of asafoetida, 1 tbsp oil, and salt. Knead it into a stiff dough using water.
2. Roll out small, round dumplings from the dough and keep aside.
3. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a deep pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Let them splutter.
4. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
5. Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Cook for a minute.
6. Add tomato puree, remaining turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander-cumin powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
7. Add pigeon peas and enough water to make a gravy. Bring it to a boil.
8. Gently drop the wheat flour dumplings into the boiling gravy. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
