Shravani’s Kitchen Sweet Goja

Welcome to Shravani’s Kitchen! Today, I’m excited to share with you a delicious and traditional sweet recipe called Goja. This crispy, flaky pastry is a popular treat in many Indian households and is often enjoyed during special occasions or festivals. With its simple ingredients and easy preparation, you’ll be able to impress your friends and family with this delightful dessert.

Ingredients:
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
– 1/2 cup water
– 1 cup sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
– Oil for frying

Recipe:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and ghee. Use your fingertips to rub the ghee into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
2. Gradually add water to the flour mixture and knead it into a smooth, firm dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
3. While the dough is resting, prepare the sugar syrup by combining the sugar and 1/2 cup of water in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat. Allow it to simmer until it reaches a one-string consistency. Stir in the cardamom powder and set the syrup aside.
4. Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls. Roll each ball into a thin oval or rectangular shape, similar to a puri.
5. Heat the oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Carefully fry the rolled dough until it puffs up and turns golden brown on both sides.
6. Once fried, immediately dip each piece of goja into the prepared sugar syrup, ensuring it is well-coated. Allow the excess syrup to drip off before placing the goja on a wire rack to cool and crisp up.
