Ingredients:
– 500g boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
– 1 cup broken wheat (dalia)
– 1/2 cup barley
– 1/2 cup yellow lentils (moong dal)
– 1/2 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal)
– 1/2 cup split red lentils (masoor dal)
– 1 large onion, finely sliced
– 2 tomatoes, chopped
– 4-5 green chilies, chopped
– 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
– 1 tsp turmeric powder
– 1 tbsp red chili powder
– 1 tbsp garam masala
– 1 tbsp coriander powder
– 1/2 cup cooking oil
– Salt to taste
– Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
– Lemon wedges (for serving)

Recipe:
1. Soak the broken wheat and barley in water for 2 hours, then drain and set aside.
2. In a large pot, add the soaked broken wheat and barley, along with the yellow lentils, split Bengal gram, and split red lentils. Add 8-10 cups of water and bring to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until the grains and lentils are fully cooked and the mixture has thickened.
3. In a separate pot, heat the cooking oil and add the sliced onion. Cook until golden brown, then add the ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chilies. Cook for a few minutes, then add the tomatoes and all the spices. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil begins to separate.
4. Add the chicken to the pot and cook until it is no longer pink. Then, add this chicken mixture to the pot of cooked grains and lentils.
5. Using a hand blender, blend the haleem to your desired consistency. If it is too thick, add some water and adjust the seasoning.
6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
