1. Rinse the chana dal and soak it in water for 2-3 hours.
2. Drain the dal and boil it in a pressure cooker with 2-3 cups of water, salt, and turmeric powder until it is soft and mushy.
3. In a separate pan, heat some oil and add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves.
4. Add the chopped onions, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste, and sauté until the onions are golden brown.
5. Add the chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, and coriander powder, and cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates.
