Recipe:
1. Rinse the rice and dal together under running water and soak for 15 minutes.
2. In a pressure cooker, heat the ghee and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Let them splutter.
3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Then, add in the tomatoes and green chilies and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
4. Drain the soaked rice and dal and add it to the pressure cooker along with turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
5. Pour in 2 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles. Let the pressure release naturally.
6. Once done, open the cooker, fluff the rice and dal gently with a fork, and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
