Ingredients:
– 2 cups avarekalu (field beans)
– 1 onion, finely chopped
– 2 tomatoes, chopped
– 1 inch ginger, grated
– 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 tsp cumin seeds
– 1 tsp mustard seeds
– 5-6 curry leaves
– 1-2 green chilies, slit
– 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
– 1 tbsp rasam powder or sambar powder
– 1/2 cup fresh coconut, grated
– 2-3 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
– Salt to taste
– 2-3 tsp oil
– 4-5 cups water

Recipe:
1. Pressure cook the avarekalu with 2-3 cups of water for 2-3 whistles. Drain and keep aside.
2. In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves, green chilies, and onions. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
3. Add chopped tomatoes, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
4. Add turmeric powder, sambar powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
5. Add the cooked avarekalu along with 2 cups of water. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
6. In a blender, grind the fresh coconut with some water to make a smooth paste.
7. Add the coconut paste to the saaru and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
