This traditional sweet dish, also known as Sweet Pongal or Chakkarai Pongal, is a must-have during the Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu. Get ready to treat your taste buds with this mouthwatering and aromatic dessert!

Ingredients:

1 cup raw rice
½ cup moong dal
1 ½ cup jaggery
4 cups water
1 cup milk
A pinch of saffron
½ tsp cardamom powder
8-10 cashews
8-10 raisins
3 tbsp ghee

Recipe:

Wash the raw rice and moong dal, and then add them to a pressure cooker with water. Cook until soft and mushy.
In a separate pan, melt the jaggery in water and bring it to a boil. Strain to remove impurities.
Add the jaggery syrup to the cooked rice and dal mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
In a small pan, heat ghee and fry the cashews and raisins until golden brown. Add them to the rice and dal mixture.
In a separate pan, warm the milk and dissolve the saffron in it. Add the saffron milk and cardamom powder to the rice and dal mixture. Mix well.
Cook on low heat for a few more minutes until the mixture thickens.
Serve hot and enjoy the delectable taste of Sakkarai Pongal!
