Flavorful Pongal Kulambu: A Perfect South Indian Delight for All Occasions

– As a food chef and blogger, I am excited to share with you my recipe for the delicious and versatile Pongal Kulambu.
– Pongal Kulambu is a traditional South Indian dish that is perfect for any occasion.
– With its rich and savory flavors, Pongal Kulambu is a must-try for anyone who loves South Indian cuisine.

Ingredients:
– 1 cup of rice
– 1/2 cup of split yellow moong dal
– 1 onion, finely chopped
– 2 tomatoes, diced
– 3-4 green chilies, slit
– 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
– 1 teaspoon of sambar powder
– 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds
– A few curry leaves
– Salt to taste
– Water
– Fresh cilantro for garnish

Recipe:
1. Rinse the rice and moong dal together and set them aside.
2. In a pressure cooker, heat some oil and add cumin seeds and curry leaves.
3. Once the cumin seeds start to splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
4. Add the diced tomatoes and green chilies, and cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
5. Stir in the turmeric powder and sambar powder, and mix well.
6. Add the rinsed rice and moong dal to the cooker, and stir for a couple of minutes.
7. Pour in the required amount of water and add salt to taste.
8. Close the pressure cooker and cook until you hear 2-3 whistles.
9. Once the pressure releases, open the cooker and give the Pongal Kulambu a good stir.
10. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro and serve hot with crispy dosa or steamed rice.
